Bringing together the scholars and practitioners of Black Environmental Thought across the African Diaspora, this conference is for scholars, artists, farmers, activists, cooks, gardeners, environmentalists and outdoors enthusiasts to explore the question of "what is a framework for Black ecological philosophy that can inform African, African American and African Diaspora theory and practice more broadly?" Conference participants will also imagine new futures of ecological sustainability change and possibility.
The conference is sponsored by the University of Minnesota's Department of African American & African Studies and the Institute of Advanced Studies, and the community organization AfroEco.
